520 3 _aThis book attempts to overcome past research negligence by focusing exclusively on tourism development, planning and impacts in a wide range of Latin American countries. It aims to widen the documentation and understanding of tourism in the sub-region in the English literature. The book has ten chapters, eight of them dealing with tourism development in one particular country and the remaining two analysing tourism between countries in the region. In total, the book documents experiences, challenges, successful and unsuccessful stories, specific cases and other tourism-related issues in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru and Uruguay. Each chapter is authored by scholars who have done extensive research on tourism in their respective countries.
